Winter Jam '09

On Saturday February 28 I took Kaitlin and Karson to Winter Jam '09. This is a huge concert tour with the following groups - Hawk Nelson, NewSong, Francesca Battistelli, Barlow Girl, Brandon Heath, Pure NRG, Stephanie Smith and Toby Mac. Winter Jam is sponsored by New Song ministries and they tour the country each year and it only costs $10 to get in. The bad part is there are no reserved tickets or seats. The concert we saw was at Koch Arena on the Wichita State University Campus. A great place, but not near big enough for a concert like this. The doors opened at 5:00 and we got there about 4:30 and barely found a place to park and got in a long line to stand and wait. It was rather chilly on Saturday, but the wind was the real problem. The line finally started moving at 5:00 and we finally got to the door and there were people there just holding white buckets and you threw your money in there and walked through the door. Weird. As you can see in the pictures, the stage was on the floor facing one direction. By the time we got in all of the good seats were taken. We finally ended up way at the top to the left of the stage. We could still see okay. Overall a great experience that we will likely not forget.

They set this up and tear it down every day.
